Dispute Resolution Experience

My background as an educational entrepreneur, university president and law school dean provides a practical basis for resolving all types of business to business or business to consumer contractual and educational disputes.  In addition, I am teaching faculty at Cal State Northridge, developing and training new mediators, and have a consulting business in which I operate workshops on conflict resolution for colleges and universities.

In addition to teaching at CSUN and private practice, I am active in the following dispute resolution forums:
  • Party Pay and Pro Bono Mediation Panel, Los Angeles County Superior Court
  • Civil Mediator Approved Panel, Ventura County Superior Court
  • Mediator and Arbitrator, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Dispute Resolution Services
  • Board of Arbitrators, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)

Professional Background

I relate to clients/litigants, as my professional careerhas spanned 30 years in business, law and education. That career includes serving three different organizations in the capacity of entrepreneur, corporate officer and businessperson, and two different universities in the capacity of president, dean and faculty member. My role has often been to facilitate discussion and collaboration between various business units to reach resolution on issues. I also relate to lawyers, as my educational background includes a law degree, a masters degree in business, and a doctor of philosophy in education. My strength is in understanding and processing relatively complex issues without losing focus on the beliefs and principles of the people involved.
